All our Speech and Language Therapists are members of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) and are registered with the Health & Care Professionals Council. Our specialist Teachers all have Level 5 OCR qualifications and our specialist assessors have a Level 7 OCR Qualification.

HEMA DESAI
Director / Specialist Teacher/Assessor (Dyslexia) / Speech and Language Therapist / Sounds-Write Tutor

Hema is the Director of Connect: Literacy, Speech and Language Services. She has had over 20 years of experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist with primary and secondary-aged students. She is also a qualified Specialist Teacher who can assess for dyslexia and work with children to develop their literacy skills. Hema’s sessions are energetic, creative, multi-sensory and goal orientated, aiming to make learning fun and effective. Hema has previously been the Lead Speech and Language Therapist at a specialist independent school in London. She oversees both branches of Connect: Literacy, Speech and Language Services in London and Melbourne.

ROSE HOLDSWORTH MOORE
Specialist Teacher / Speech and Language Therapist

Rose is a paediatric Speech and Language Therapist. She has worked in both mainstream and specialist settings, both in independent practise and within education. Rose is experienced in working with children with ASD, Developmental Language Disorder and Articulation difficulties. Rose is also a Specialist Teacher, who works with both primary and secondary aged students in an independent specialist school for SpLD (dyslexia). Rose’s sessions take a multi-sensory approach, are outcome focussed, bespoke and seek to instil confidence in student's language and literacy abilities.

NOOREEN SIDI
Specialist Teacher / Assessor (Dyslexia) / Speech and Language Therapist

Nooreen has worked in mainstream and specialist schools as well as private and NHS clinics working with various age groups including early years and adults. Nooreen started her Speech and Language Therapy career in Canada before moving to London. Nooreen also works at an independent specialist school for children with specific learning difficulties.

MAUREEN BRITTAIN
Specialist Teacher / Assessor (Dyslexia)/Qualified Teacher

Maureen is a specialist dyslexia teacher and qualified assessor. She has a warm and empathetic approach and enjoys tailoring sessions to children’s needs and interests. Her sessions are multisensory and carefully planned to build confidence and skills. Maureen also teaches at an outstanding primary school in South London. This keeps her up to date with curriculum expectations. She has also undertaken a role as a successful literacy intervention teacher.

CAROLYN GREEN
Specialist Teacher / Assessor (Dyslexia and Dyscalculia)

Carolyn has over 20 years’ experience as a teacher and has taught in private and public sector schools in four different countries. In 2008, Carolyn specialised in working with children with specific learning difficulties and went on to work as a SENCo in a well-established primary school in SW London for 7 years.

Carolyn has also completed specialised training to help children with maths difficulties and has her Assessment Practicing Certificate, to assess and diagnose Dyslexia and other SpLD in children and young adults.

KARYN SKUSE
Specialist Teacher / Sounds-Write Tutor / Maths Co-ordinator

Karyn is a qualified Level 5 Specialist Teacher and has also completed the Unicorn maths training. She is the maths coordinator at Connect: Literacy, Speech and Language Services. Karyn has worked with children with a range of specific learning difficulties in both state and independent schools. Her passion is to support those children who find learning more challenging. She engages children by creating personalised learning programmes that follow their interests using multi-sensory resources and educational games.

FIONA DIXON
Specialist Assessor (Dyslexia)

Fiona has taught in west London secondaries for over 15 years, before pausing to study for a Masters at UCL in specific learning difficulties. She now works with schools in both the primary and secondary (maintained and independent sector) diagnostically assessing and supporting children with dyslexia and other co-occuring difficulties, as well as providing advice and training for their teachers. She has two neurodiverse daughters, knowing first hand the challenge this brings to young people and their families. Fiona is an experienced school governor and sits on the board of an independent specialist school in London.

CHLOÉ WINFIELD
Specialist Teacher / Sounds-Write Tutor

Chloé is a qualified Level 5 Specialist Teacher who has over ten years of experience teaching in whole class and intervention settings. She has worked with children with a range of learning difficulties and is currently completing a Master’s in Specific Learning Difficulties (dyslexia). Chloe has completed specialised training in Magic Link Handwriting and is a trained Sounds-Write tutor.

Remote Administrator

Malak works remotely completing administrative tasks for the business. She is a second-year Criminology student at York St John’s. She supports the Director with appointment bookings, invoicing and marketing.
